A telomere is the protective caps on the ends of our chromosomes composed of short DNA sequences protecting DNA and genetic material from damage. I'm such a science nerd y'all this perked my interest a few months ago and really helped me understand why the environment our us and the foods we choose is so important to maintain as balanced with as possible. Did you know the under normal conditions when our cells divide out telomeres will shorten? Normal conditions for most Americans looks like sodium and sugar with a dash of chemicals to helps the "food" go down. Along with increased stress with most people working 40 to 80 hours per week, living off fake energy and creating an overwhelmingly acidic body with little to no sleep. It's no wonder chronic illness is on the rise in America. Lifestyle can also effect telomeres, psychological conditions that shorten telomeres are depression and anxiety. physical activity such as drugs, toxins and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is defined as an over abundance of reactive oxygen species or (ROS) Excessive oxidative stress damages DNA, proteins, and lipids. How do we prevent oxidative stress? Well see these little gems I'm holding, this is an supplement that helps fight oxidative stress, it nourishes the body with antioxidant nutrients such as glutathione precursors such as an amino acid called cysteine which is also in my nutrient dense shakes.
