What is food?

The definition of food in Merriam Webster's Dictionary is states: Material consisting essentially of protein,carbohydrates and fat used in the body of an organism to sustain growth, repair, and vital processes to furnish energy. 
Let's unpack this for a moment, this simple definition is what I use when speaking to clients about their eating habits. most of the time I find that the weight they are wanting to lose or the energy they seek, the wellness they want all lies with in the "food" choices and habits they consistently make and do. The next time you prepare a meal ask your self am I meeting the requirements of what food is? Am I balancing my plate with all three components needed to fuel my body and not simply to fill it.
